Ring size guide: solutions to measure the right size
How to know your ring size? There are several ways to measure your finger size. Art'emi has selected 4 ring size guide methods for you. They are all simple and quick so you can do it easily.
Knowing your ring size helps avoid choosing a ring that is too small or too large. So, to avoid guessing a size, try one of these five methods.
Note that ring sizes can vary slightly from one model to another. So a little tip, consider choosing the larger size. For example, if you choose a ring 3 to 5 mm thick, like the wide domed silver ring from Art'emi, we recommend taking one size larger.
Here are the five methods to know how to measure the size for a ring:
- Manually measure the circumference of the finger concerned
- Measure your ring size with a ruler (conversion chart)
- Use our virtual ring sizer
- Have your finger measured by a professional jeweler
- Order your free ring sizer
1. How to know your ring size? Measure the circumference of your finger manually
To measure the circumference of your finger manually, you need to:
- Grab a sewing tape measure or cut a strip of paper or a piece of string several centimeters long.
- With this strip or the tailor's tape measure, wrap around the finger that will wear the ring at the level of the most important phalanx (it is often recommended to take the measurement at the second phalanx, in the middle of the finger).
Warning: do not tighten the strip too much when wrapping it around your finger to ensure the ring will also fit over the knuckles. So, make sure the strip is rather loose around your finger. Otherwise, you risk ending up with a ring that is too small.
- Make a mark where the strip meets.
- Unroll your strip and measure with a millimeter ruler the length needed to go around your finger. (If the mark falls between two graduations, take the higher graduation)
- To know your ring size, refer to our conversion chart above. For example, if the measured length is 5.4 cm, the size to order is 54.
Tips:
1. Measure your finger circumference at the end of the day, when the temperature is higher.
This is when your fingers are most swollen. This way, you will avoid choosing a ring that is too tight.

2. Ring size: measure your ring's diameter with a ruler
Our second tip to know your women's or men's ring size is to measure the inner diameter of one of your rings. You just need a measuring tool such as a ruler or caliper. Then, note the corresponding size according to the conversion chart below.
Note that on the size chart, you will find your French ring size (FR) and your American ring size (US). Refer to the French column if you want to order from our online store.
If you have any doubts or questions, do not hesitate to contact us by phone or email. We can then determine together the ring size that suits you best.
3. Ring size guide: use a virtual ring sizer
Generally, for a woman, the finger circumference is on average between 52 and 54, sizes offered by Art'emi. To determine your women's ring size or men's ring size, use the virtual ring sizer below, making sure that the 10 cm marker actually measures 10 cm on your screen.
- Place one of your rings (the one that fits your finger best) on the different circles of the ring sizer that determine your finger size.
- Move your ring on the screen until you find the corresponding inner diameter. When the inner diameter of your ring exactly matches the inner diameter of a circle, you have found the finger size that fits you.
Note: The outer edge of the ring sizer line must still be visible. If in doubt, choose one size larger. Remember that fingers tend to swell slightly in summer…
4. How to measure the size for a ring: have your finger measured by a professional jeweler
How to know your ring size? Another method offered is to have your finger measured by a professional jeweler. They will use a ring sizer (a set of rings of different sizes that they try on your finger until they find the one that fits) or a triboulet. The latter is a kind of cone-shaped mandrel on which a ring is slid to measure its inner circumference.
However, if you do not want to visit a professional, we have a customer service to answer your questions. Contact us by phone or email. We will find your women’s or men’s ring size together.
