The Great Family of Quartz
Quartz is one of the most common minerals on earth, existing in various colours:
- Colourless: Rock crystal
- Purple: Amethyst. Until the 18th century, it was considered a precious stone on par with diamond, ruby, emerald, or sapphire.
- Yellow: Citrine
- Green: Prasiolite. Its colour is often obtained by heat treatment of an amethyst.
- Brown: Smoky quartz
- Black: Morion
- Two-coloured, yellow and purple: Ametrine. The finest and most prized come from Bolivia.
- Finally, rose quartz, the one that makes up the jewellery of the creator Artemi.

Origins and Legends of Rose Quartz
The name crystal comes from the Greek krystallos (to designate the stone quartz), which means ice. This name comes from the fact that it resembles ice and can remain cold in heat longer than glass. Rose quartz is obviously part of this very large family of quartz. What sets it apart from its many cousins is the presence in the stone of traces of specific trace elements (mineral salts necessary for the life of an organism) which give it its beautiful pink colour. Indeed, the different members of the family distinguish themselves by the presence of traces of lithium, aluminium, iron, boron, calcium, magnesium, calcium, titanium and/or rubidium. This creates many combinations of colours!

According to Greek mythology, the origin of the stone is attributed to the unhappy love of Aphrodite and Adonis. Rose quartz would be the crystallised mixed blood of the goddess and the mortal. Moreover, if we believe the Mayan legend, one of the famous 13 crystal skulls could be made of rose quartz. Gathered, they would reveal great secrets of the universe… For now, they are spread across various museums worldwide… What would happen if they were brought together? Would unicorns return to Earth?

Rose Quartz in Art'emi's Creations
The colour of rose quartz comes in a wide range of shades from pale pink to deep pink. Additionally, peach or orange reflections can be seen depending on the type of metals composing the stone. The deeper the colour, the more valuable the quartz.
Quartz in Everyday Life
In stone healing (a therapeutic method that involves healing through crystals), it is considered the stone of the heart, love, and peace. Through its virtues, it spreads its gentleness within us and in our interactions with others. On the other hand, smoky quartz is a variety of quartz whose colour comes from the aluminium salts it contains. Considered the stone of responsibility and refocusing, it would calm strong emotions that cloud the mind.
Finally, as you have surely guessed, rose quartz is the stone of love par excellence. It radiates waves of gentleness and tenderness and gives us the feeling of being wrapped in a cocoon. That is why Art'émi uses it for its jewellery creations, especially rose quartz rings! In any case, the most beautiful rose quartz stones have a soft and even colour.
