For example, the setting of this beautiful round dropstone necklace for women is made of vermeil. This is sterling silver plated with a minimum of 3 microns of gold. The process is called electroplating. The gold used for the plating is 18-karat gold, which is at least 75% pure gold. Furthermore, vermeil is hypoallergenic because it is silver coated with gold, two hypoallergenic metals! Finally, another advantage of vermeil is its exceptional durability.
The small semi-precious stones covering the pendant are cat's-eye tourmalines. Tourmaline comes in more colors and combinations than any other gemstone variety. It's a wonderful and fascinating stone! It protects against negative energies.
