Its history and characteristics
Agate is a variety of quartz. It is a transparent to translucent stone with a glassy shine. It forms in volcanic regions, from silica, water, and various minerals (manganese oxides, iron oxides…). It is currently found in the southern regions of Brazil, Uruguay, and Mount Lyall in Quebec. This is an ancient volcano whose cooled lava allows the formation of agate.
